Art Therapy Sessions for Mental Health at Panjab University

Chandigarh, April 24, 2026: Under the initiative of the Office of Dean Student Welfare, Panjab University has taken a significant step towards holistic student development by constituting various student-led clubs, including the Literary Club, Photography Club, Dance and Music Club, Art & Drama Club, Mental Health Club.
As part of this initiative, the Mental Health Club introduced Art Therapy sessions for students of Panjab University, aimed at promoting emotional well-being and self-expression. The sessions were conducted by PU Counsellor Pulkita Wadhwa. A total of over 60 students participated across three sessions held on April 10, 17, and 24, 2026, at the Committee Room, DSW Building.
The sessions focused on encouraging creative expression and enabling the unconscious mind to communicate through art. The initiative received highly positive feedback from participants, who described the experience as engaging and therapeutic.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean Student Welfare (Women) Prof. Namita Gupta emphasised the importance of such initiatives in promoting students’ mental health and overall well-being.
Prof. Yogesh Rawal, Dean Student Welfare, further stated that the University will continue to undertake more such initiatives to strengthen mental health support systems for students.
