Chandigarh, April 9, 2026: ‘KAVACH 3.0: रणनीति का रंगमंच’, the two day annual literary and cultural festival of Panjab University’s Department of Defence and National Security Studies (DDNSS), started at Sector 14, PU Campus here today.
The ceremony was graced by PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig, as the Chief Patron, alongside Special Guest, Maj Gen Bharat Mehtani, ADG NCC, Directorate of PHHP&C. Various activities are being organised at the Student Centre (StuC) and the adjacent university ground. Prof. Jaskaran Singh Waraich, Chairperson of DDNSS and event organiser, welcomed the distinguished guests, university faculty, and students.
There is military equipment and weapons displays by the Western Command, Chandimandir, where infantry battalion weapons are being displayed. 1 Chandigarh Girl Battalion and 2 Chandigarh Battalion (Boys) of NCC displayed a detailed tableau of Operation Sindoor. Various models of planes and ships are also being displayed by the 1 Chandigarh Air Squadron and 1 Chandigarh Naval Unit of NCC, respectively.
Marking a major highlight of this year’s edition, the department introduced two "first-time ever" displays at the UBS Ground. The first day featured a spectacular Army Dog Show, which drew significant interest from the attendees. Throughout the day, the Weapon Display was a focal point of attraction.
The fest is set to continue on Friday with another packed schedule, including an Army Horse Show at 11:30 am and various NCC activities starting from 10:30 am. The Weapon Display will also remain open to the public on the second day.
Today’s events were well received by a diverse audience comprising students from various schools and colleges, NCC cadets from the Army, Air, and Naval wings, and the general public, all gathered to witness the prowess and discipline of the Indian military.
