Anita Punj Director Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, Punjab delivers special lecture on “Gender issues and Policing”

Chandigarh, March 28, 2023: Anita Punj Director Punjab Police Academy, Phillaur, Punjab delivers special lecture on “Gender issues and Policing”, at the Centre for Police Administration,Panjab University, Chandigarh today.

While interacting with the students she said, that “Gender is a societal construction which not only decides roles and responsibilities of men and women but also their access over resources and opportunities. She emphasised that gender issues are impacting adversely policing and can only be addressed by doing gender sensitisation of police by having police interface with women and by having women in police Criminal Justice System is working hard to address the issue of gender. She ended her lecture with the Mahatma Gandhi’s quote “be the change you wish to see the change in society”. 

The lecture was attended by the Faculty, Research Scholars and students of Centre for Police Administration and students of Department of Public Administration, Panjab University, and Chandigarh. A large number of students of Police Administration at Rashtriya Raksha University, Pasighat Campus, Arunachal Pradesh along with their Facultymember namely Dr. Sanjeev Singh and Satnam Singh were present online and actively participated. The session ended with vote of thanks by Prof. Anil Monga, Chairperson of the Centre.
