Who can forget how songs like Lakshya and Hindustani rekindled the nationalistic spirit in Indians? Now, after almost a decade, the talented music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is winning the audience with their next patriotic song Ae Watan from the upcoming film Raazi.

Eshaan Noorani sounded confident about the success of the song and said the simplicity and emotions of the song will connect with any generation.

When asked if Bollywood's leading music trio paid any special attention to today's choice of music while composing 'Ae Watan', Ehsaan said, "I think a simple idea works very well. It would definitely appeal to the everybody. There are no set parameters to compose songs. I mean we have done songs that have been appreciated before like Laskhya and Hindustani. This song is emotional and it would connect with any generation."

After Rock On 2 and Mirzya in 2016, the trio (SEL) are excited for their forthcoming project Raazi (2018).

Ask them to explain their process of work, Ehsaan has a ready reply. "Working on a patriotic song is very tricky. It shouldn't sound like something that has been done before and especially in a situation in the film, we needed a patriotic song. It had to be an emotional song because the story demanded so," he said.

Ehsaan said the album comprises songs which play more on the emotional factors. " It's important to play with emotions because she is crossing the border to spy for India and probably putting her entire life at risk," said Ehsaan.

The composer trio has also experimented with Kashmiri folk music for the Alia Bhatt starrer spy thriller film.

When asked the trio what kind of challenges they faced while composing songs for 'Raazi', Mahadevan said, "Each project is challenging in its own right. When you have to justify the script as a music composer, you have to take a lot of efforts in terms of detailing the songs. There is one song in 'Raazi' titled 'Dil Baro' for which we had to do a lot of research on Kashmiri folk songs. We had to use Kashmiri musical instrument in it. It is a challenge to incorporate the essence of the region, era and circumstance in the songs. If you see the title of 'Raazi', it relates to Afghani or Kashmiri music but at the same time, it is for Bollywood so as a composer, we had to maintain those settings."

'Raazi' is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka's Calling Sehmat, a novel-inspired by the almost-unbelievable real-life story of the woman named Sehmat, to protect her identity.

Alia Bhatt will be seen playing Sehmat, where as Vicky Kaushal is essaying the role of a Pakistani officer. Raazi' is being directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Karan Johar and Vineet Jain.

It is scheduled to release on 11 May, 2018.
