Ludhiana, July 29, 2015: Due to severe recession prices of industrial inputs and raw materials are falling. In some cases fall is very perceptible.
Punjab government levies Entry Taxes at the barrier. These Taxes are levied on the value of the commodities. P.D.Sharma, President Apex Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Punjab) has said that VAT officials have either no knowledge of the prevailing current rates of the commodities or they pretend innocence.
Accordingly they levy tax at unreal higher value of the commodities. This problem is relatively more acute for iron and steel scrapes in particular.
Shri P.D. Sharma has urged state government to levy Entry Taxes at the current price and officials should have access to the daily prices of commodities.
In recession no government should penalize the industry. Instead it should help the industry.
Some Industrial unit have unit in different states. They have same name but have different Sale Tax/Central Excise number. They are facing some problems. Apex Chamber has recommended them to the department for suitable resolution. They are pending for quite some time. P.D. Sharma has urged the government to resolve them at the earliest.
