9th International Yoga Day Celebrated in Doaba College

Jalandhar, June 21, 2023: Doaba College Jalandhar, in association with The Art of Living and 94.3 My FM organized a programme entitled “Aao Jalandhar Yog Karen” to celebrate International Yoga Day on Wednesday.  

Sushil  Kumar Rinku, Member of Parliament, Jalandhar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Raman Arora, MLA, Jalandhar (AAP), Dhruv Mittal- Treasurer, Doaba College Managing Committee, Sat Pal Gupta, member, Doaba College Managing Committee and Kuldeep Singh (Art of Living), Rohit Sharma (Hawk Riders), were the guests of honour. The dignitaries were accorded a hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Prof. Arvind Nanda, Prof Sukhvinder Singh and   Dr. Suresh Mago - Coordinators, faculty members and around 600 students and  citizens of Jalandhar.

The event began with a lamp lighting ceremony. Rajesh Premi enchanted a blissful bhajan on the occasion. 94.3 FM RJ Garry, Reet and Vikas entertained the audience.

Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari highlighted the importance of Yoga, calling it ‘chit vritti nirudha’, which means to end evil of the mind. He focused on connecting yoga not only to body and breath but mind also. The Art of Living teachers S. Kuldeep Singh, Sh. Rohit Sharma and their team performed Yogasaanas, namely Bhujangasana,  Naukasana, Tadasana, Sulabhaasana, Surya Namaskaar, Paadasana, nadi shodhan exercises and meditation  alongwith the audience.  During the Pledge Ceremony, everyone took the pledge to make yoga and exercise a part of their daily life and strengthen the health of their families, society and the country. The dignitaries were then honoured with saplings by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari and faculty members. The NCC, NSS, Health and Well Being Committee, Student Council of the college participated in the program with great enthusiasm. 

Prof. Priya Chopra conducted the stage. 

The event culminated with a vote of thanks from Dr. Suresh Mago.
