Ludhiana, September 7, 2018: In district Ludhiana, a total of 855 nominations have been filed for upcoming Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal has informed that a total of 759 nominations have been filed for 236 zones of Panchayat Samiti while 96 nominations for 25 zones of Zila Parishad.

The process of the filing of nominations for the upcoming Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections had started on September 4, 2018 and today was the last day. While providing further information, Dr Shena Aggarwal informed that the scrutiny of nomination papers would be done at 11 am on September 10, 2018, the Withdrawal of nominations can be done up to 3:00 PM on September 11, 2018 and the symbol allotment would be done immediately after that. She stated that the polling would be held from 8 am to 4 pm on September 19, 2018 and the counting of votes would be done on September 22, 2018.

For 15 zones of panchayat samiti Dehlon, a total of 42 nominations have been filed, for 17 zones of panchayat samiti Doraha, a total of 58 nominations have been filed, for Panchayat Samiti Jagraon, having 25 zones, 89 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Khanna, having 15 zones, 51 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Ludhiana-1, having 25 zones, 90 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Ludhiana-2, having 25 zones, 90 nominations have been filed, for Panchayat Samiti Machhiwara having 16 zones, 52 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Malaud having 15 zones, 54 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Pakhowal having 16 zones, 45 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Raikot having 15 zones, 55 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Samrala having 15 zones, 43 nominations, for Panchayat Samiti Sidhwan Bet having 15 zones, 36 nominations and for Panchayat Samiti Sudhar having 22 zones, a total of 54 nominations have been filed.

Dr Shena Aggarwal further informed that about 11,61,000 voters would exercise their right to franchise at 1542 Polling Stations all over the district.

Deputy Commissioner cum District Electoral Officer Ludhiana, Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal has directed Police Department to make elaborate security arrangements for free and fair elections. Representatives of all recognised Political Parties have already been briefed about the upcoming elections and the arrangements being made for them by ADC (D) cum Additional District Electoral Officer, Dr. Shena Aggarwal and their cooperation was sought for successful conduct of elections.

She said that all the necessary arrangements like ballot boxes, election material, strong rooms for secure storage of ballot boxes till counting and counting centres have been made by the district administration.
