67th COLLOQUIUM LECTURE “LESSONS LEARNT IN UNIFORM” DELIVERED BY WG CDR NAMRITA CHANDI AT P.U.
The 67th colloquium lecture titled “Lessons Learnt in Uniform” was delivered by Wing Commander NamritaChandi, Indian Air ForceHelicopter Pilot(Retired) today at SSBUICET auditorium, Panjab University.

Chandigarh July 26, 2023: The 67th colloquium lecture titled “Lessons Learnt in Uniform” was delivered by Wing Commander NamritaChandi, Indian Air ForceHelicopter Pilot(Retired) today at SSBUICET auditorium, Panjab University. Prof.RuminaSethi, Dean of University Instruction, Chief Guest of the event, in her welcome address informed that this lecture was planned on 26thJuly to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwasin honour of the Kargil War's Heroes for their bravery and sacrifices.
Wg.Cmd.Chandi also an alumnus of PU,shared many life experiences during her tenure in Air Force with the audience. She said the first lesson she learnt was to taking actions, embracing failures and uncertainties of life. Life’s achievements lye on the other side of the comfort zone. But most of the people donot know how to deal with the uncertainty part which comes from fear of failure. She advised that one should challenge one’s fears and “Action is the fundamental Core of Leadership and Success”. She provided insights into the struggles and barriers she overcame as a woman in a male dominant field. She shared her various experiences on the field which provided a perspective into another world.
She emphasized on the importance of taking time to acknowledge and celebrate both small and big accomplishments along the way and that recognizing progress and milestones boosts morale and motivates a person to keep pushing forward. She also stressed that resilience is one of the most important skills in life and a must trait to be a great leader.
After spending close to three decades leading as an IAF officer and Vice President of an MNC, she is now on a mission to empower individuals to learn how to lead with excellence. Her thought evoking concepts carried a genuine passion for leading, empowering and motivating others to access their lives to facilitate self-discovery to live to fullest potential and achieve success in life.
Wg Cdr Namritais acknowledged as the First Woman Pilot in the World to have flown in the Siachen Glacier after volunteering for a posting at an operational unit based at a high-altitude air base. She is the First Women in the world to have landed at the highest ALG in the world Daulat Beg Oldi. She is featured in the Limca Book of World Records for being the First Pair of Sisters in the world to have flown together as pilot and co-pilot in an aircraft.

The lecture was attended by around 200 participants including faculty of various departments of P.U., research scholars & students and was appreciated by one and all present.
