3-Day National CRE Workshop Concludes at Government College of Education, Chandigarh
Chandigarh , January 23, 2026: The three-day National Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) Workshop on “Clinical Approaches to Diagnosis and Management of Child and Adolescent Psychopathology” successfully concluded today, at the Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh. The workshop was organized under the aegis of the Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, led by Professor Anita Sharma, and the Indian Association of Health, Research and Welfare (IAHRW), led by Dr. Sunil Saini.
The valedictory session commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Dr. Jaideep Arya, Chairman, Yog Parishad Haryana, by the Principal of the college, Dr. Sapna Nanda. In his valedictory address, Dr. Jaideep Arya appreciated the academic depth and clinical relevance of the workshop and underscored the importance of holistic, wellness-oriented approaches such as yoga and mindfulness in strengthening child and adolescent mental health services. He emphasized the need for sustained capacity building among educators, counselors, and mental health professionals to promote preventive, promotive, and integrative mental health care.
On the occasion, Volume 15 of the college journal “The Educational Beacon” was formally released by the Chief Guest. The newly generated DOI of the journal was also released during the ceremony in the presence of the Editors of the journal, Dr. Punam Bansal and Dr. Vijay Phogat.
The overall workshop report was presented by Dr. Ravneet Chawla, Programme Coordinator. The workshop witnessed the participation of around 180 delegates, including clinical psychologists, counselors, rehabilitation professionals, faculty members, research scholars, and undergraduate and postgraduate students from ten states—Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.
Distinguished experts including Dr. Prabhjot Malli, Retired Professor, Advanced Centre of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh; Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Professor, Department of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh; and Dr. Sangeeta Trama, Head, Department of Psychology, Punjabi University, Patiala, chaired various sessions and shared their rich professional experience with the participants.
The three-day workshop sessions were conducted by Dr. Deepika Lamba, Head, Clinical Psychology, Amity University, Mohali; Dr. Satwinder Singh Saini and Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Clinical Psychologists, PGIMER, Chandigarh; Dr. Jyoti Mishra, Head, Clinical Psychology, GMCH-32, Chandigarh; Dr. Devender Rana, Associate Professor, PGIMER, Chandigarh; Dr. Sahebjeet Kaur, Clinical Psychologist, Chandigarh; Ms. Chandani Pandey and Ms. Tenzin Dolma, Amity University, Mohali; and Ms. Navneet Kaur, Clinical Psychologist, GMCH-32, Chandigarh.
The vote of thanks was formally proposed by Dr. A.K. Srivastava, Dean of the College, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Principal, collaborating institutions—Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, and the Indian Association of Health, Research and Welfare—distinguished resource persons, organizing committee members, and participants for their cooperation, commitment, and active involvement throughout the three days.
The workshop concluded on a note of renewed commitment toward strengthening child and adolescent mental health services through informed, ethical, and evidence-based clinical practice. The organizing team also included Dr. Lilu Ram, Dr. Anjali Puri, and Dr. Vandana Aggarwal (IQAC & Workshop Committee), whose collective efforts contributed significantly to the successful planning and execution of this national-level CRE workshop.
