2nd edition of CCI-Department of Laws National Moot Competition concludes

The 2nd edition of the CCI-Department of Laws National Moot Competition which commenced on 29th March in the presence of Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah concluded on 31st March with fervor and excellence, showcasing the legal acumen and advocacy skills of participating teams.

2nd edition of CCI-Department of Laws National Moot Competition concludes

Chandigarh, April 1, 2024: The 2nd edition of the CCI-Department of Laws National Moot Competition which commenced on 29th March in the presence of Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah concluded on 31st March with fervor and excellence, showcasing the legal acumen and advocacy skills of participating teams.

A total of 25 teams vied for the top honors, with 16 making it through the rigorous memorial qualifier round to advance further. In the semifinals, notable teams including Kelsen, Hart, Scalia, and Austin displayed exceptional prowess, impressing the judges Sunaina Dutta and Jyotsna Yadav from Competition Commission of India (CCI), Dr. Ivneet Walia and Souradeep Mukhopadhyay.

The finals witnessed a gripping showdown between Team Kelsen and Team Hart, with both teams demonstrating remarkable legal arguments and advocacy. The distinguished panel of judges for the finals comprised High Court judges, Justice Vikram Aggarwal and Justice Sumeet Goel alongside Kaustubh Sinha, co-founder and Partner of Adrit Legal, Sheetal Setia from University of Mumbai and Shekhar Kumar- Director  the Competition Commission of India who brought their expertise to evaluate the performances.

After a tough battle, Team Kelsen representing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Institute, Patiala, emerged victorious, clinching the coveted title and winning cash prize of Rs. 45,000. The runners up team was Team Hart from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies who received a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 33,000. The Award for best speaker was won by Aman Kumar Srivastava from Institute of Law, NIRMA University who won cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and the award for best memorial was won by UILS from Panjab University winning a cash of Rs. 12,000.

Prof. Dr. Devinder Singh, Chairperson of the Department of Laws at Punjab University and Prof. Shipra Gupta Incharge- MCS, extended their congratulations to all participants, acknowledging the commendable efforts of the Moot Court Society members, volunteers, and teachers in making the event a resounding success.
