Chandigarh, August 4, 2014: After the scrutiny of the nomination papers filed by different candidate for Patiala and Talwandi Sabo by-elections, total 15 candidates have been left in fray in the both assembly constituencies.
Disclosing the here today, V.K. Singh, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab said that the scrutiny of the nomination papers of candidates has been done today. He said that after scrutiny, for the Patiala assembly by-election, nomination papers of 8 candidates have been found valid. He said that the candidate left in fray for Patiala Assembly by-election are Bhagwan Dass (Shiromani Akali Dal), Preneet Kaur (Indian National Congress), Harjeet Singh (Aam Aadmi Party), Amrik Singh (New All India Congress Party), Ravi Kant (Hindusthan Nirman Dal), Balbir Singh (Independent), Balwinder Singh (Independent) and Rajinder Singh Pawar (Independent).
CEO further mentioned that for Talwandi Sabo assembly by-election, the candidates, whose papers have been found valid, included; Jeet Mohinder Singh (Shiromani Akali Dal), Harminder Singh Jassi (Indian National Congress), Baljinder Kaur (Aam Aadmi Party), Makhan Singh Premi (Punjab Labour Party), Balkar Singh (Independent), Balwinder Singh (Independent) and Bharpur Singh (Independent).
V.K. Singh said that last date for the withdrawal of candidature is August 6. He said that Voting for the by-elections on both seats would be held on August 21 and counting on August 25, 2014.
