45000 liter illicit liquor thrown in gutters

The police force alongwith officers and officials of various departments raids in 25 houses in village Chak Balochan Mahalam, known for smuggling of illicit liquor for the last more than one decade,  on Saturday morning.

Ferozepur, July 21, 2013: The police force alongwith officers and officials of various departments raided in 25 houses in village Chak Balochan Mahalam, known for smuggling of illicit liquor for the last more than one decade,  on Saturday morning at about 6 AM,

One can imagine the amount of business of illicit liquor that village Chak Balochan Mahalam have only 1,302 votes and since 1990, about 1,400 court cases of illicit liquor business are going in the various courts.

On the day of raid, the village was virtually converted into police cantonment.  The moment the villagers came to know about the raid by the police, there was hurried migration and the smugglers managed to escape from the scene.  The raid was headed by Surinder Pal Singh, DSP and his team.

As per the sources, 65,000 liter liquor, out of which 45,000 liter was illicit liquor was thrown out in the gutter and about 20,000 liter was taken into possession and five working condition furnace were destroyed. It was also seen that people of the village doing this illegal business of liquor had put in the drums and even in the pitches dug in the house itself.   Apart from this some quantity of smack was also recovered.  In all, a case against 30 people was registered.  

On this occasion, this is the first time some of the villagers have come forward to end the business of extracting of illicit liquor. However, they pledged to uplift the village which has brought a great disgrace to the village of curse of illicit liquor.
