Ludhiana, October 14, 2023: The enthusiasm of the youngsters is always in plenty and if it is channelized towards meaningful ways, they excel in every walk of life. The participation in cultural festivals gives those opportunities to the students. It was told by Dr. Harpreet Singh, principal, GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana while inaugurating “Zing ‘n’ Zeal – 2023”, an inter-school multi-talent cultural fiesta. The event witnessed participation of about 1500 students from 28 schools from all over Punjab. The theme of the event was ‘Peaceful World’.

The mega fiesta was organized to provide the students an opportunity to interact with likeminded people, engage with a large group of their peers, and build bonds over a shared interest. It also intended to teach them to overcome shyness and hesitancy, and to develop crucial social skills. The students of various schools performed outside their comfort zones during the event and discovered hidden talents within themselves.

The event included various cultural, literary and fine arts items including handwriting, dastar – e- shaan (turban tying), one picture-my story, extempore’, poster making, cartooning, mehndi, face painting, folk song (solo), dancing (solo), group dance, beauty of nature (flower arrangement), young researchers (paper reading contest), rangoli, essay writing, inquizitive (quiz), on the spot camera clicks, food without fire (salad competition), power talk (power point presentations), case based group discussion, waste is nothing and working model display.

The college president, Manjit Singh Gill, encouraged the students to develop their life with such events. He claimed that only those with talent could succeed in today's fiercely competitive world. "Students always remember these competitions," he continued. He commended the faculty and students for planning the event and urged them to continue holding competitions like this to foster a healthy spirit of rivalry and drive for success. He counseled, "Personality should be recognised as a package of talent and skills apart from subject knowledge; it is not just a collection of traits."

The students witnessed brilliant and enthusiastic performances by the students who toiled hard to bag the accolades for their talents. The participation showed their skill and talent with creativity, passion and vibrancy.

The president and secretary of the college governing body, Manjit Singh Gill and Dr. SS Thind, respectively, stated that students cannot thrive in this highly competitive global world by relying just on academic knowledge. In order to prepare for the ever-demanding corporate world, they must use extracurricular activities to shape their personalities. They commended educators and pupils for effectively carrying on the custom of giving schoolchildren a stage on which to display their skills. The event's organisers, Prof. Suman Sharma and Dr. Rajinder Singh Sahil, urged the students to focus on their personality qualities in order to become better versions of themselves.

Meanwhile, in the competitions, the overall trophy was won by Broadway Public School, Manal, Ludhiana while Guru Nanak International Public School, Gujarkhan Campus, Ludhiana came second.
