Paying tribute to 75 magnificent years of Independence with impeccable stories and remarkable performances by a stellar cast, the August line-up includes Humsafar, a cult favourite starring the power duo Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, is set to air from 9th Aug at 7pm on Zindagi’s VAS platform Dish TV, D2H and Tata Play. After a successful run with Sadqay Tumhare, Mahira Khan is back yet again to mesmerize viewers with her charm and flawless acting. A fan favourite, the show revolves around the lives of a young couple whose journey through marriage sees many highs and lows putting their love for each other to test at all times.

Highlighting the aftermath of war, the next in line is Dhoop Ki Deewar, set to release on 10th August at 8.30 pm.  Written by Umera Ahmed the show sheds light on how despite being divided by war, we are all united by grief. Giving audiences a closer look into the lives of the families of war martyrs, the show perfectly captures the pain and loss these families suffer across both borders. Starring Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir in significant roles, the show is an appeal to the audience for peace and love.
Sharing her excitement on the show returning on TV, Sajal Ali said, “Dhoop Ki Deewar is a story of loss, life and family. It is a story that unites people despite their differences, it resonates with them. It gives people a never seen before and important perspective on war and I am glad that the series will reach many more people across India and they will get to experience this beautiful story.”

Shailja Kejriwal, Chief Creative Officer – Special Projects, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd adds, “Zindagi is celebrating 75 years of freedom with stories that are meaningful, deliver a socially relevant message, reflective of our South Asian culture and above all, connect people who are divided by boundaries. Talent and teams from both sides of the border have seamlessly come together to co-create these stories based on mutual trust and we are eagerly looking forward to many more such collaborations in times to come.”

The special line-up also features Toba Tek Singh, a satire on the relationship shared by India-Pakistan post the 1947-partition. Starring an ensemble cast including veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, Vinay Pathak among others, the film is based on Bishan Singh, a patient at Lahore’s mental asylum who has to leave everything behind and move across the border due to the partition. Directed by Ketan Mehta, Toba Tek Singh is a story of displacement and pain that the partition brought upon people. The film will premiere on 14th August at 8pm.

The audience will also be privy to an exclusive showcase of other popular series like Meri Jaan Hain Tu, a romantic drama showcasing the lives of Haniya and Ibad, who fight all odds for love. Suno Chanda, a comedy drama about Arsalan and Ajiya who get married to honour their grandfather’s final wish.
