Yechury to address massive rally of CPI and CPI(M) on Dec 17
Ludhiana, November 1, 2018: To mobilise the people against RSS BJP, to get fulfilled the promises made by central and state ruling parties in their electoral campaigns and manifestos, to raise the burning problems of the people, to defend the democracy, right to freedom of expression and dissent and to maintain the communal harmony and multi-cultural unity of the country and state, the CPI and CPI(M) are organising a Massive Rally on 17th December 2018 at Grain Market, Gill Road, Ludhiana, which will be addressed by Com.Sita Ram Yechury, General Secretary Of CPI(M), Com.Sudhakar Reddy, General Secretary of CPI and other national and state leaders of both the left parties. It was declared here by Comrades Bant Singh Brar and Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon, the state secretaries of CPI and CPI(M) respectively in a joint press conference held at CPI(M) district office. They were accompanied by State leader of CPI(M) Com. Lehmbar Singh Taggar and district secretaries of both communist parties Comrades D. P. Maur and Rupbasant Singh Waraich. Communist leaders said that four and half years of Modi regime has been years of total failure and disaster from all aspects — employment, prices, attacks on minorities, tribals, dalits and women including children, corruption of ministers going to Rafale deal that raises questions on PMO, attacks on democracy, fundamental rights, constitutional institutions including judiciary, huge concessions to corporates and heavy burdens on common people, polarisation on communal and caste lines etc. Here in Punjab the captain government is also failure on all its promises — no end to drugs, no employment, no end to mining mafia. Complete loan waiver is distant dream. All sections are on streets. Teachers of various schemes have camped in Patiala, the home town of Chief Minister to get jobs regularised. Implement Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report. Main parties of the state are indulging and competing in fomenting religious sentiments while burning issues of the people are being pushed to back. Communists parties condemn the sacrilege, demand punishment to culprits immediately so that the issues of the people might not be obliterated. In the context of this grim situation, CPI and CPI(M) are holding a state level Massive Joint Rally at Ludhiana on 16th December this year. In preparation two joint Jatha Marches from 15th November to 21st November will be organised to awaken and mobilise the people. First Jatha will start from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Martyrdom Memorial at Hussainiwala on 15th and passing through Ferozepore (including Fazilka), Faridkot, Moga, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Patiala, Mohali, Ropar, Ludhiana districts, it will give message of the rally. 2nd Jatha will start from Jallianwala Bagh, the national freedom memorial and cover Amritsar, Tarntaran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawan Shahar, Kapurthala and Jalandhar districts before concluding at Deshbhagat Yadgar Hall at Jandhar. Joint general body meetings will also be held to enthuse the party leaders and activists of both parties for widest possible mobilisation towards Ludhiana Rally. The main demands will be — Defence of democracy against fascistic attacks; Fight against corruption and parliamentary probe of Rafale Deal; Right to employment; hike in minimum wages; Implementation of Pay Commission recommendations; writing off all loans of peasants and agrarian workers; plots and pensions for Khet Mazdoors ;curb the rising prices of essential commodities; Education and health facilities abolish contractual system and regularise existing workers; Old his pension of Rs. 5,000 to all; regularise all scheme workers; Strong measures to protect women and girls from sexual assaults; due place of first language to Punjabi in Punjab and Chandigarh; Special economic package of Rs One Lakh Crores to help Punjab to come out of crisis, Protection and maintenance of Punjab waters, End to corruption; Withdrawal of Property tax and toll taxes; measures to prevent sacrileges of religious scriptures of all religions; etc.
