World Forestry Day - DC releases pictorial work on forest around Ludhiana

Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday released a pictorial work in the form of a documentary, portrait, and brochure titled "Forests around Ludhiana", which highlights the forest locations of Ludhiana having beautiful flora, fauna, and natural serenity.

Ludhiana, March 21, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Thursday released a pictorial work in the form of a documentary, portrait, and brochure titled "Forests around Ludhiana", which highlights the forest locations of Ludhiana having beautiful flora, fauna, and natural serenity. 

The work was compiled by author and nature artist Harpreet Sandhu in collaboration with the Forest Department of Ludhiana. The intention behind this work is to promote the forest locations of Ludhiana, including Mattewara Forest, Garhi Fazil Forest, Neelon Forest, New Haider Nagar Forest, and Halwara forest, among citizens.

During the release, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the sincere efforts of Harpreet Sandhu in initiating this innovative work to promote the vivid colours of the natural forest locations of the district. She added that it is a great endeavour to highlight forest locations and will generate immense interest among natives of Ludhiana. The brochure will generate enthusiasm among nature lovers and citizens to explore the unseen forest locations and further promote tourism prospects of the district. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Major Amit Sareen also praised the efforts of Sandhu and mentioned that the forests have been a source of livelihood for centuries and were the oldest habitat of modern civilization.

Divisional Forest Officer Rajesh Kumar Gulati said that there was a need to have a perspective of "Forests and Innovation" as an emerging solution for our lives. 

Harpreet Sandhu said that it took more than five months to capture and compile this entire pictorial work to highlight the vibrant colours of forest locations, which will be an eye-opener for citizens of Ludhiana.
