Workshop on Exploring Tools for Visual Analytics at GNA University

Jalandhar, May 1, 2023: The department of computer science and engineering, SEDA-E organised a one-day hands-on workshop on Exploring Tools for Visual Analytics for B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering students. Dr. Vikas Khullar, Associate Professor, Chitkara University, Rajpura, was the expert speaker for this hands-on workshop. The objective behind the Workshop was to give practical training in the exploration of tools for visual analytics.

The Workshop covered the growth potential of data science and analytics and its relevance in the business scenario. Big data is becoming all-pervasive in business as most business solutions are backed by data-driven solutions. Dr. Khullar started his discussion with an introduction to Power BI tool followed by the practical demonstration about data preparation, data cleaning, visually-based data recognition, interactive dashboards and augmented analytics. Dr. Khullar also introduced the concept of Pandas and its working to the students. He also guided students how these tools are useful apart from Data Analytics to other specializations like Cyber Security and Cloud computing also. 

Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Pro-Chancellor, GNA University said, “GU is committed to provide best education to its students. I am happy that the department takes good initiatives in updating the students with latest tools and technologies.”

Dr.VK Rattan, the Vice–Chancellor appreciated all the participants and encouraged them to take active part in such events as this is one of the emerging technologies and in demand. Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics, GNA University interacted with participants, highlighted the significance of Business and Visual Analytics, and said these technologies and hands-on practices make students industry ready.

Dr. Hemant Sharma, the Pro Vice-Chancellor thanked the management for providing the platform of learning for the students and staff. He also thanked department and Dr. Vikrant Sharma, Dean FEDA-E and Dr Anurag Sharma, Head CSE for organizing such a great event and ensured all participants that such events will be planned in future also to promote development and industry activities.
