Rohtak, February 3, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Girls' Sports Hostel at the Abhilasha Girls' Hostel complex of MDU, Rohtak today.

 

A significant initiative towards providing safe, modern, and convenient accommodation for female athletes, the proposed Girls' Sports Hostel will have a capacity to accommodate 150 girl students. This multi-storey structure (ground plus three floors) will have a total covered area of approximately 2,374 square metres and will be constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs. 5 crore.

According to the project's key features, the ground floor will have four rooms, a warden's room with an attached toilet, a kitchen, a dining area, a common room, and a store. Six rooms with balconies will be built on the first floor, while six dormitories each are proposed for the second and third floors. Toilet facilities will be available on each floor. A lift will also be installed to ensure a barrier-free environment for persons with disabilities.

 

CM Nayab Singh Saini said that the state government is committed to increasing women's participation in sports and providing them with better infrastructure. Present on the occasion were Dr. Mallika Nadda, President of Special Olympics Bharat; State Minister for Sports Gaurav Gautam; Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh, Registrar Dr. Krishan Kant, Chief Warden Girls Prof. Sapna Garg, along with hostel wardens, students, and other dignitaries.
