Woman jumps to death from 12th floor home in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, July 23 (IANS) A middle-aged woman Wednesday committed suicide by jumping from her 12th floor apartment here, police said.

Veena Narula, a 57-year-old resident of Ramprastha Greens residential society in Vaishali Sector-7, was under acute depression, police said.

Police said she lived with her husband, but spent most of the time in isolation.

She was last seen walking on the ground floor and talking to residents of the society around 10.30 a.m. After about 10 minutes, the building's security guard saw Narula fall from a higher storey.

"Her medicines, slippers and a stool on which the medicines were kept were found in the 12th-floor balcony. Her body has been sent for autopsy. Prima facie, it seems a case of suicide although she left no suicide note. Police are seeking information about her family," said police officer Atul Yadav.
