Webinar on science as tool to connect to guru shabad 

Jalandhar: An International Webinar on ‘Science as a tool to connect to Guru Shabad (Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji)’ was organized by Department of Zoology and Botany, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. 
Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Principal, Lyallpur Khalsa College was the Guest of honour of this webinar. The resource person of the session was Dr. Sukhdev Singh, a social activist and Member, Drug Awareness Society of Toronto, Canada. He is also an Ex-Professor and Head, Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. 
Prof. Surbjit Singh, Organizing Secretary of the webinar welcomed Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, resource person Dr. Sukhdev Singh and the attendees. 
The session started with opening remarks by Dr. G.S. Samra. While addressing the audience, he inspired all to find a way forward in our life by following the teachings and treading the path shown by our gurus. He appreciated the efforts of the department and motivated them to organize such programmes in future also. Dr. Sukhdev Singh started his talk with Shabad Gyan “Tatti wao na laggayee Paar bhram sharnaai Chaugirdh hamare raam kaar Dukh lage na bhai.” He enlightened the participants about the development of immunity of human body since the inception of foetus and further he referred to different verses of Guru Shabad depicting the same theory. He also referred to various verses of Guru Granth Sahib Ji which provide an insight into the immunity enhancement through following right diet patterns, adopting yoga and meditation in our daily routine which are now-a-days proven scientific facts. Hence, he concluded that the occurrence of pandemics like COVID-19 force us to realize that if we study science and connect ourselves to God and choose a righteous direction in our lives only then we can boost the self-protective immune system of our body, which is a key factor for one’s safety against such infections. The session was concluded with an interactive question/answers session. Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, Convenor of this webinar and Head of the department proposed the vote of thanks. 
Other faculty members of the department Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Dr. Upma Arora, Dr. Heminder Singh, Prof. Devika Gandhi and Prof. Gurjinder Kaur attended the webinar. 
In this webinar, more than 120 participants registered from different states of India and other countries. 
Overall, the whole webinar was very informative and knowledgeable.
