Chandigarh, May 5, 2025: The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University organised a webinar on the theme “Classroom Management of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder”.
Resource Person Dr R. Jamuna, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Training and Non Formal Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi delivered the lecture, which was chaired by Dr. Md Saifur Rahman.
Dr R. Jamuna said that Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the most common neurodevelopmental Disorder and the population of ASD is increasing at alarming rate. Inclusive setup is not only beneficial for special needs but also for all children. It helps in creating an equitable society for children with special needs. In inclusive setup, the role of teacher is way more important than regular classroom. Therefore, the teacher must be well equipped with all the required skills and knowledge and hence, instructions should be tailored according to the individual needs of the individual. She also highlighted the different strategies; like Evidence-based strategies, VAKT and UDLto handle the child with ASD.
Prof. (Dr) Navleen Kaur, Prof. (Dr) Anuradha Sharma, Mr. Nitin Raj and other faculty members were present in the webinar. Mr. Nitin Raj presented the vote of thanks. It was an interactive and informative session for everyone.
