Vocational Training on “Embellishment of clothes using traditional and modern techniques” at KVK, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar

Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a vocational training course on “Embellishment of clothes uses traditional and modern techniques” from 8th-14th June, 2023. During this course, the concerned experts from KVK delivered technical lectures and demonstrated various techniques for garment enrichment.

Ludhiana, June 15, 2023: Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar organized a vocational training course on “Embellishment of clothes uses traditional and modern techniques” from 8th-14th June, 2023. During this course, the concerned experts from KVK delivered technical lectures and demonstrated various techniques for garment enrichment.

Dr. Shikha Mahajan, Assistant Professor (Home Science) delivered lectures on colour theory, different printing techniques, various traditional and modern art methods, different types of traditional embroideries of India and home decoration as well. Practical on different techniques for making domestic utility articles more interesting and decorative, i.e., pillow covers, cushion covers, table mats, ladies suits, bed sheets and dupattas, etc., were also conducted and different types of fabric painting was also taught in this training programme. Mrs Renu Bala, Programme Assistant (Lab Technician) trained the participants for printing (block and stencil), traditional embroideries and stitches like Kantha, , phullkari, appliqué, herringbone, satin, cross, stem and bullion etc. On the concluding day of training, an exhibition was also put up by trainees of their products prepared during this vocational training period like printed & embrioded ladies suits, cushions, pillow cover and ladies kurtas etc.

Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training) during his address to the trainees emphasized that these types of training courses have the potential to enhance the rural household income and assured all help for future endeavors too. The trainees were highly satisfied with the technical guidance received during the training programme and made up their mind to start/scale up their business. Dr. Bons further motivated the trainees to attend all the trainings organized by KVK to enhance their skill and for knowledge upgradation.
