Jalandhar, March 8, 2026: BJP National Executive Member and former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia has termed the Aam Aadmi Party government’s 2026-27 budget as misleading. He pointed out that the promise made during the 2022 Assembly elections to provide ₹1,000 per month to every woman above 18 years of age is being fulfilled only in the government’s fifth year, and based on future implementation rather than retrospectively.
Moreover, the scheme comes with certain conditions that exclude government women employees and women taxpayers. Kalia highlighted that when this promise was made in the 2022 Assembly elections, there were no such conditions, and every woman above 18 in Punjab was assured this ₹1,000 monthly aid.
He further warned that Punjab would sink deeper into a debt trap of nearly ₹5 lakh crore. Kalia asserted that the people of Punjab will not be misled by the 2026-27 financial budget and will vote the Aam Aadmi Party out of power in the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections.
