VIGILANCE nabs secretary market committee in bribery case

Chandigarh, July 19, 2013: State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed Secretary Market Committee red handed accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000.

Disclosing this here today, Suresh Arora, Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that Bureau caught Dalbir Singh Secretary Market Committee posted at village Dhoodhan Sadha in district Patiala demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000 from complainant Harbans Singh  a commission agent of grain market Devigarh in district Patiala for relaxation some fees in auction process. He added that the complainant approached the Bureau and alleged that Dalbir Singh was demanding bribe from him. After finding the veracity of facts a vigilance team led by Mr Birbal Singh, DSP vigilance laid a trap and the accused was nabbed red handed in the presence of two government officials as witnesses. In this regard a vigilance case FIR No. 21 under u/s 7, 13 read with 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
