Rohtak, February 21, 2026: MDU's newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Somnath Sachdeva, held an important meeting with deans, department heads, and statutory officials after assuming office on Saturday. He said his top priorities were improving the university's NAAC grading, enhancing the quality of higher education and research, ensuring good governance, and strengthening financial management.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Somnath Sachdeva said that NAAC grading reflects the university's academic and administrative quality. Therefore, all departments should work in coordination to strengthen academic excellence, research innovation, student welfare services, and institutional transparency. He said that the university's national reputation will be further strengthened by increasing quality education, research projects, patents, and publications.
He specifically urged teachers to update themselves with artificial intelligence and new digital technologies in line with the changing global educational environment. He stated that AI has become an integral part of education, research, and administrative processes. If teachers embrace new technologies, students can also be provided with quality and modern education.
Stressing the need to compete with private universities, the Vice Chancellor said that competition in the field of higher education is constantly increasing, and government universities must strengthen themselves through their quality, discipline, and innovation capabilities. He urged teachers and officials to work together in a team spirit to strengthen the university's competitiveness. Emphasizing good governance, the Vice Chancellor directed ensuring transparency, accountability, and timeliness in administrative processes. He also called for special attention to the judicious use of financial resources and disciplined management.
Registrar Dr. Krishna Kant, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. S.C. Malik, Deans of various faculties, Heads of Departments, and statutory officers attended the meeting.
