Rohtak, February 21, 2026: Students from the Department of Planning and Architecture at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) will plan for smarter, safer, and environmentally friendly cities. During the five-day workshop, geospatial technology expert Dr. Pawan Kumar briefed the students on various technical intricacies.
The workshop, which concluded on Saturday, provided students with information on the technical requirements essential for modern urbanization, from basic concepts to high-level technical module design, to help them become sophisticated and advanced urban planners.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that the integration of these planning tools into the university's academic curriculum ensures that graduates become not only planners but also spatial data scientists, capable of designing sustainable cities of the future. The Vice Chancellor said that by mastering advanced geographic tools, our students are moving beyond traditional drafting to become spatial data analysts who can visualize challenges and map out sustainable solutions before a single brick is laid.
Department FC Ajay Bahu Joshi explained that during the five day workshop, students learned to create specific digital blueprints of urban and rural areas and use satellite images to track how our cities are growing. Detailed information was provided on how water flows over land to avoid future floods and how to analyze the environment to choose the safest locations for new buildings. Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Ajay Kaushik said that the university administration aims to transform its students into technically skilled planners, who can support every design decision with precise spatial evidence.
