Understanding Commodity Derivatives and Price Risk: PUIGS Students interacted with officials of MCX and SEBI
Chandigarh, October 13, 2025: The students of the BBA-MBA Integrated programme, Panjab University Institute of Global Studies participated in a RISA Seminar – Awareness Programme on Commodity Derivatives & Price Risk Management, organized in collaboration with the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Chander Nath Pandey from MCX introduced the speakers and highlighted the importance of understanding commodity market. Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Coordinator PUIGS extended vote of thanks to the MCX and SEBI for sharing the investment mechanism and awareness with the students. Anuj Gupta, Head Commodity and Currency, HDFC Securities in his session discussed the functioning of the commodity market and the role of Securities and Exchange Board of India. He further made the students aware about common scams and advised how to identify reliable brokers. He also shared information about SIPS and SCORE, SEBI’s grievance redressal mechanisms.
Amit, AGM at SEBI, spoke about SEBI’s role as a regulator and shared useful resources for investors, including www.investor.sebi.gov.in, which helps investors understand investments easily. He also mentioned SAARTHI AAP, a platform aimed at investor awareness.
The session was highly interactive as students actively participated and engaged with the speakers. Many students enthusiastically responded to questions, creating a lively and motivating environment. They were also given prizes for answering questions. Overall, it was a useful and informative session that provided valuable insights into commodity derivatives and investment risk management. Kiran Sharma, Faculty of PUIGS accompanied the students.
