The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, hosted a heartfelt farewell function, Rukhsat 2026, for the outgoing batch of 2026 of B.A./B.Com. LL.B. and LL.M. students. The event brimmed with nostalgia, cherished memories, and emotions as students prepared to conclude their academic journey at the institute and step into new chapters of their lives. Faculty, staff, and peers came together to make the day truly unforgettable.

Chandigarh, April 24, 2026: The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University, Chandigarh, hosted a heartfelt farewell function, Rukhsat 2026, for the outgoing batch of 2026 of B.A./B.Com. LL.B. and LL.M. students. The event brimmed with nostalgia, cherished memories, and emotions as students prepared to conclude their academic journey at the institute and step into new chapters of their lives. Faculty, staff, and peers came together to make the day truly unforgettable.
The function was graced by Prof. Yogesh Kumar Rawal (Dean of Student Welfare) and Prof. Namita Gupta (Dean of Student Welfare, Women). In his address, Prof. Rawal congratulated the outgoing batch and emphasised the importance of working with love and dedication. Prof. Gupta highlighted the vital role of the university in equipping students to face the challenges of life with resilience and confidence.
Earlier, the programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by an inspiring address by Prof. Shruti Bedi, Director, UILS. Prof. Bedi fondly remembered the energy and passion for learning that characterised the outgoing batch and urged the students to remain connected as part of the UILS family.
The farewell function was coordinated by Dr. Anupam Bahri and Dr. Sunny Sharma.
The farewell celebrations spanned three days. The first day was dedicated to group photographs, while the second day saw students revel in Ethnic Day, showcasing vibrant cultural attire. The final day featured a series of performances, including classical dance and music, along with spirited student acts. Adding to the vibrancy of the occasion, PwD students brought energy and creativity to the function, enriching the atmosphere.
Titles of Mr. and Ms. UILS were conferred on Sunishth and Tapreet Brar, respectively, adding excitement to the event. A short video capturing the journey of the outgoing batch evoked smiles, laughter, and heartfelt reminiscences. Students shared their experiences and reflections, making the occasion deeply personal and poignant.
The function concluded on an emotional note, leaving behind a legacy of camaraderie, gratitude, and fond memories that will continue to resonate with the UILS family.
