UHSR VC Dr. H.K. Agarwal describes the increasing participation of women in blood donation camps as an inspiration for society
51 units collected at the blood donation camp at PGIDS
Rohtak, June 19, 2026: Dr. H.K. Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, stated that both blood donation and tree plantation are noble, life-saving activities. While blood donation saves a life today, tree plantation secures the future for generations to come.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Agarwal was addressing the gathering as the chief guest at a blood donation camp organized at PGIDS on Friday to mark World Blood Donor Day. Organized by the Dental College in collaboration with the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, the camp saw enthusiastic participation from female faculty members, PG students, interns, and female staff members.
Expressing happiness at women stepping forward to donate blood, the Vice-Chancellor remarked that today, our daughters are excelling in every field. The participation of women in a noble cause like blood donation proves that women are the true source of inspiration for society. He specially honored all female blood donors by pinning badges on them and presenting them with certificates of appreciation.
VC Dr. Agarwal noted that a misconception still persists in society that women cannot donate blood, whereas a healthy woman can safely donate blood every four months. He urged female students and women from other institutions to also come forward and donate blood.
While planting saplings on the Dental College campus alongside officials, the Vice-Chancellor stated that trees provide life-sustaining oxygen to the earth. He called upon those present to plant at least one sapling on their birthdays and to adopt the pledge: "Save lives through blood donation; save the earth through tree plantation."
Dental College Principal Dr. Manu Rathi reported that a total of 51 units of blood were collected during the camp. Donors who had contributed blood multiple times were also honored. BDS students conveyed messages regarding blood donation and environmental conservation through street plays and a poster exhibition.
Present on the occasion were Registrar Dr. Roop Singh, Dean (Academic Affairs) Dr. M.G. Vashisht, Medical Superintendent Dr. Kundan Mittal, DSW Dr. Savita Singhal, Head of the Department of Medicine Dr. Sudhir Atri, Dr. Pankaj Gehlot, Dr. Adarsh, and Dr. Bhavna, along with Dr. Ragini and Dr. Naveen Khatri from the Blood Bank.
