Jalandhar, August 2, 2025: The Department of Zoology and Botany of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, organized a training session on the care of plants and trees during the monsoon season.

The event was held under the aegis of the newly constituted student body Aristotle Society of Life Sciences, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and scientific temperament among students.

Dr. Suman Chopra, Principal of Lyallpur Khalsa College, lauded the initiative and emphasized the vital role of such programs in promoting ecological consciousness among youth. She encouraged students to actively participate in green initiatives on and off campus.

Dr. Amandeep Kaur, an expert in plant care and sustainable gardening, was the invited speaker on the occasion. She highlighted the importance of plant health during monsoon, focusing on practical techniques like water management, pest control, and seasonal plantation practices. Her engaging and insightful talk inspired the attendees to adopt environment-friendly habits.

Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Registrar and Head of the Department of Zoology& Botany, welcomed the guests and underlined the importance of experiential learning in environmental education. The stage was conducted by Dr. Upma Arora with professionalism and grace.

The event was successfully organized by Dr. Heminder Singh and Dr. Surbjit Singh, whose efforts ensured smooth execution and wide participation.

Dr. Navdeep Kaur (Vice Principal), Dr. Balraj Kaur (Head, Department of English), and Dr. Jaswinder Kaur (Head, Department of Environmental Science) graced the occasion with their presence and support.

The training session witnessed active participation from over 120 students, college Malis (gardeners), and non-teaching staff, making it a successful and impactful event towards fostering a green and sustainable campus environment.
