Training Session on IPR Awareness in DLC SUPVA

The Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, organized a One-Day Training Session on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness, in collaboration with NIPAM and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and TradeMarks (CGPDTM) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

Rohtak, October 27, 2025: The Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, organized a One-Day Training Session on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness, in collaboration with NIPAM and the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and TradeMarks (CGPDTM) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

The keynote address was delivered by Yasir Abbas Zaidi, Examiner of Patents and Designs, CGPDTM, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The session was held under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha. It was organized by the Director, IQAC, DLC SUPVA.

Yasir Zaidi enlightened students and faculty members about the importance, scope, and types of Intellectual Property Rights, including patents, designs, trademarks, geographical indications, and copyrights. He explained the process of registration, the regulatory framework, and the mechanisms available for the protection of creative works.

He also discussed case studies illustrating the practical implications of IPR in the creative and design industries, emphasizing how knowledge of intellectual property can safeguard innovation and ensure fair recognition of original work.

“In today’s knowledge-driven economy, Intellectual Property is both shield and sword. For a creative institution like DLC SUPVA, understanding IPR is essential not only for protecting innovation but also for transforming creativity into sustainable enterprise,” said Zaidi, highlighting the commercial and strategic dimensions of IPR.

DLC SUPVA, being a hub of artistic and innovative disciplines such as visual arts, design, film, and architecture, places strong emphasis on IPR education. The session enabled students to understand how intellectual property can be monetized and commercialized, turning creative efforts into intellectual assets.

The event was attended by Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, Director, IQAC Dr. Ajay Kaushik, IQAC Consultant Dr. Aditya, and Heads of various faculties, along with a large number of students and staff.

“IPR awareness is vital for creative professionals. It empowers our students and faculty to value their originality and equips them to navigate the professional world with confidence and legal awareness,” said Dr. Ajay Kaushik.

The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya appreciated the efforts of IQAC for organizing such initiatives that blend creativity with intellectual awareness; ensuring students remain prepared for a globally competitive creative economy.
