Chandigarh, October 10, 2018: Mr.Mark Morley, Trade Commissioner - South Asia Agribusiness, Australian High Commission and Mr.Ashish Sharma, Director - Northwest India, Austrade, New Delhi met the Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Prof Raj Kumar and the Director, Research Promotion, Prof.Ramanjit K. Johal, here today to discuss their interest in collaborating with the University to work in the area of developing sustainable agri- business models in North-Western India, more specifically Punjab and Haryana.
To start with a workshop on food supply chains as a collaboration between Panjab University, University of Monash, Punjab Agriculture University and the Sangha group was being planned in early 2019.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Raj Kumar, underlined the need for a highly integrated approach to addressing the various verticals in the food processing, storage, distribution domains to build a sustainable business model. He noted that Panjab University, along with the CRIKC cluster, has immense strengths to build virtual and physical infrastructure to strengthen this critical area of the Indian economy.
