Three drug smugglers nabbed, 5.765 kg heroin recovered in three separate cases
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, sleuths of the Punjab Police have nabbed three drug smugglers and recovered a total of 5.765 kg of heroin in three separate cases in the district.
Ferozepur, March 21, 2026: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, sleuths of the Punjab Police have nabbed three drug smugglers and recovered a total of 5.765 kg of heroin in three separate cases in the district.
Divulging details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ferozepur, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that in the first case, teams of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA Zira) arrested two accused identified as Jasveer Singh alias Kak and Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukhi, recovering 1.52 kg heroin from their possession. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Sadar police station.
In the second case, CIA Zira apprehended another drug smuggler identified as Albaksh alias Kaka, a resident of Khalchian Jadid village, from Qile Wala Chowk on the outskirts of the city. The police recovered 2.725 kg heroin from him and registered a case under the NDPS Act at the same police station.
Talking to the mediapersons, the SSP further said that in the third case, acting on a tip-off, police teams conducted a search operation in the agricultural fields near Langeana village, leading to the recovery of 1.988 kg heroin. He said the consignment is suspected to have been sent via drone from across the Pakistan border, and further investigations are underway to trace the forward and backward linkages in the case.
