Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa Inspire Students through ‘Nanhe Kadam’ at Government High School, Lohara
Continuing its mission to strengthen child rights awareness at the grassroots, the Nanhe Kadam initiative was organized at Government High School, Lohara, where Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice Chairperson, Punjab Child Rights Commission, interacted with nearly 400 students through an engaging and interactive awareness session.

Ludhiana, August 6, 2026: Continuing its mission to strengthen child rights awareness at the grassroots, the Nanhe Kadam initiative was organized at Government High School, Lohara, where Gunjeet Ruchi Bawa, Vice Chairperson, Punjab Child Rights Commission, interacted with nearly 400 students through an engaging and interactive awareness session.
Addressing the students, Bawa encouraged them to understand their rights, remain committed to education and never hesitate to seek help or speak up against any form of abuse or neglect. She highlighted the importance of personal safety, emotional well-being and staying away from the menace of drug abuse, while motivating children to become responsible and confident citizens.
The session also focused on creating awareness about the Child Helpline (1098), encouraging both students and teachers to make use of the service whenever required.
The programme was conducted in the presence of Amitesh Shukla, School In-charge, along with the school faculty namely Kulbir Singh, Harpreet Singh, Sarbjeet Kaur, Ritu Arora, Pallavi Gupta, Ramesh Kaur, Saguna Sharma and Renu Sharma. Appreciating the initiative, Amitesh Shukla said, "Such awareness programmes play a vital role in shaping young minds and help children grow into informed, confident and responsible citizens."
Expressing her excitement after the session, a Class X student shared, "This was the first time such a programme was held in our school. I learned about my rights and whom to approach if I ever need help. I am very happy to be a part of it."
The initiative also received support from Aas Ehsaas NGO, which distributed stationery items among students as a token of encouragement.
