Reet-riwaaz insaan ki sahuliyat ke liye banaaye jaate hain, insaan reet-riwaazo ke liye nahin…These evergreen words weaved into a cinematic social drama along with stunning performances by Late Rishi Kapoor and Padmini Kolkapure along with the legendary Shammi Kapoor, Tanuja, Bindu, Sushma Seth and Raza Muraad in pivotal roles. Celebrating the 40 glorious years of Prem Rog and its commendable depiction of star-crossed lovers against the cruel society and its outdated norms. Not only the hard-hitting dialogues and thoughtful direction by Raj Kapoor but the music played a major role in making the film as legendary and celebrated as it is today. Let’s revisit this masterpiece on the occasion of 40 years to its release on 30th July at 11am only on Zee Bollywood.

Reminiscing the old days, Padmini Kolhapure said, “Prem Rog was an era-defining film in the history of Indian cinema. It wasn’t just a story of two star-crossed lovers, but it mirrored the tragic reality of rural India during that time. My character, Manorama was more than a damsel in distress, she was the voice to all those women who couldn’t speak up for themselves. And only Raj Kapoor sahab could’ve managed to narrate this poetic chaos. In contrast to my full of life, bubbly Manorama, we had Devdhar played by our beloved Rishi Ji who was calm, compassionate, and composed. A character that was so refreshing even for him. Today, as we celebrate 40 years to the film, I still discover some new details and realize what a layered masterpiece Prem Rog was.”

35 years to the film that took the drama genre to the next level with power-packed cast, exquisite music and riveting storyline, Khudgarz became an instant hit among the audiences. With Khudgarz, Rakesh Roshan made his mark as one of the ace directors. While he believed in the script that it could be a blockbuster, Rakesh Roshan vowed that he would shave his head if it became a reality, and the rest is history. Featuring the legendary stars such as Shatrughan Sinha, Jeetendra, Amrita Singh, Govinda, Neelam Kothari and Kadar Khan in pivotal roles, Khudgarz became a defining film for everyone involved. Come, join the celebration of 35 iconic years of Khudgarz with a telecast on Zee Bollywood on 31st July at 11 am.
