Swami Vivekananda University Hosts Grand Promotion of Devi Chowdhurani film with Stars Prosenjit and Srabanti
The open-air auditorium of Swami Vivekananda University recently came alive with the grand promotion of Devi Chowdhurani, a film based on the classic novel by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The movie, centered on the legendary character known as the “Bandit Queen of Bengal”, was promoted in the presence of film lead stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and actress Srabanti Chatterjee on Thursday.

Kolkata, September 13, 2025: The open-air auditorium of Swami Vivekananda University recently came alive with the grand promotion of Devi Chowdhurani, a film based on the classic novel by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The movie, centered on the legendary character known as the “Bandit Queen of Bengal”, was promoted in the presence of film lead stars Prosenjit Chatterjee and actress Srabanti Chatterjee on Thursday.
Directed by Subhrajit Mitra, the film has been creating an air of excitement on campus for days, with both new entrants and senior students eagerly looking forward to the event. The anticipation culminated in a massive gathering, as thousands of students thronged the venue to witness the promotion.
Addressing the audience, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Srabanti Chatterjee spoke about Devi Chowdhurani, urging the young generation to experience how Bengal’s forgotten history has been vividly brought to life on screen. Their presence created a festive atmosphere, with crowds lining the university roads to catch a glimpse of the stars.
On behalf of Swami Vivekananda University, the event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Subrata Kumar Dey, COO Saurabh Adhikari, Registrar Pinak Pani Nath, renowned singer and Music Club mentor Shahana Bakshi, guest faculty member of the Music Club Soumi Bhattacharya, Dean Nimai Chandra Saha, Deputy Registrar Tanmoy Majumdar, Assistant Registrar Abhishek Dhar and Shubham Bhattacharya, and Deputy Controller of Examinations Sourav Saha, among others.
