To mark the World Population Day, 2022 and Swachhta Week, Population Research Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Boys’ Hostels Number 5 organized a Swachhta Pakhwada in boy’s Hostel No. 5, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, July 14, 2022: To mark the World Population Day, 2022 and Swachhta Week, Population Research Centre, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Boys’ Hostels Number 5 organized a Swachhta Pakhwada in boy’s Hostel No. 5, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The event was sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Chandigarh.

Dr J.S Sehrawat, Warden Boys’ Hostel No. 5 welcomed the guests and participants for the occasion. Dr Sehrawat highlighted the importance of ‘swachhta’ and the need of awareness among all.  Prof Kumool Abbi, Director PRC Panjab University gave the welcome address. In her address, she shared her thoughts and highlighted the role of cleanliness in an individual’s life.

On this occasion, Swachhta Pledge focusing on clean India was administered to all the participants by  Ms. Shivani Paul DGM (Petrochemicals - Marketing) Indian Oil Corporation, Chandigarh. The Population Research Centre with the help of Indian oil donated the RO Water filter machine in the Boys’ Hostel Number 5. The warden and staff thanked the IOC and PRC for donation of required RO system and the distribution of Swatcchta kits to the mess and canteen workers, cleaners and garners of the hostel. 

Dr Sukhbir Singh, Dr Tarun Bala and Dr Manmohan Singh from PRC distributed the Swachhtta Kits to the hostel staff. The Swachhta Pakhwada event was attended by more than 50 participants. A vote of thanks was addressed by Dr Sehrawat to all the guests and participants to successfully mark the end of the program.
