Sukhdev Singh Wins Professor Partha Sarthi Gupta Memorial Prize for Best Paper on Colonial Punjab Peasantry
Chandigarh, January 7, 2026: Sukhdev Singh, Ph.D. Research Scholar, Department of History (presently working on regular as Assistant Professor, Govt. Brijindra College, Faridkot) under the Supervision of Dr. Jasbir Singh, Chairperson, Department of History has been awarded the “Professor Partha Sarthi Gupta Memorial Prize” for the best paper submitted in Section III (Modern India) during the “83rd Session of Indian History Congress”held at Punjabi University, Patiala from 28th to 30th December, 2024 for the paper titled “The Marginal Peasantry: Their Situation in the Land Market of the Colonial Punjab”.
The Best Paper Award was given at “84thSession of Indian History Congress”held at Government Brennan College, Thalassery, Kannur, Kerala from 28th to 30th December, 2025. The award includes a cash prize of Rs.5000/- alongwith Certificate of Appreciation.
