Chandigarh, October 1, 2026: The Universal Human Values (UHV) Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, organised the Valedictory Ceremony of the RUSA 2.0 Funded AICTE-Approved Offline Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Universal Human Values (UHV) at the MMTTC, Panjab University South Campus, Chandigarh.

The three-day FDP brought together 63 delegates from different parts of India, including Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. The programme provided participants with an opportunity to understand and reflect upon the relevance of Universal Human Values in personal, professional and social life.

Prof. Shankar Sehgal, FDP Coordinator, welcomed the Chief Guest, AICTE Resource Person, delegates and other participants during the valedictory ceremony. He highlighted that the FDP had been interesting, interactive, informative and useful for all the delegates and appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm shown throughout the programme.

Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Patron of the FDP, highlighted the important role played by RUSA 2.0 funding in spearheading relevant academic and professional development programmes at Panjab University. He emphasized that such initiatives provide valuable opportunities for teachers and researchers to engage with contemporary and socially relevant themes alongside their academic and research responsibilities.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Sukhpal Kaur, Principal, National Institute of Nursing Education, PGIMER, Chandigarh, elaborated on the importance of human values in life. She emphasized the need to develop meaningful human relationships and encouraged participants to reduce excessive use of mobile phones and spend more quality time with family and friends.

Prof. Dr. Sukhpal Kaur also highlighted the relevance of Universal Human Values in the medical and healthcare professions. She observed that exposure to human values can help doctors and healthcare professionals develop greater sensitivity, empathy and affection while caring for patients. She expressed her interest in exploring the possibility of organizing similar programmes at PGIMER for the benefit of healthcare professionals and, ultimately, humanity at large.

Representing the AICTE team, Sh. Jitender Narula, AICTE Resource Person, presented a summary of the content covered during the FDP and highlighted the key learning areas addressed throughout the programme.

The delegates actively participated in the various sessions and appreciated the FDP for its interactive approach, informative content and practical relevance.
