Chandigarh, October 1, 2026: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness, and environmental awareness, The Department of Library and Information Science conducted a Swachhta Diwas cleanliness drive at Panjab University, Chandigargh.
Faculty members, staff, research scholars, and students attend the programme. The cleanliness activity focused on the departmental premises, adjoining areas, and nearby pathways. Participants undertook cleaning activities and segregated waste materials appropriately.
The initiative also provided an opportunity to reinforce awareness regarding responsible waste management and the importance of maintaining a clean and green institutional environment. The programme commenced with an address by Dr. Khushpreet Singh Brar, Chairperson, who encouraged the students and participants to actively contribute to maintaining cleanliness in and around the department. He emphasised that cleanliness requires sustained individual and collective responsibility and motivated the participants to uphold the principles of the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” in their daily practices.
The programme concluded with the active participation and collective efforts of all members of the department. The initiative contributed to awareness of cleanliness among the participants. The Department will continue to undertake such activities periodically to support a clean, and academic environment.
