Nilokheri, July 15, 2026: Success in life is achieved through discipline, a curiosity for continuous learning, and positive thinking. Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), expressed these views while addressing students and teachers as the chief guest at the annual academic award distribution ceremony of Guru Brahmanand Government Polytechnic Institute, Nilokheri.

Jwala Prasad, Principal of the Government Polytechnic welcomed Dr. Chauhan by presenting him with a bouquet. Chief Guest Dr. Chauhan inaugurated the event by lighting a ceremonial lamp alongside Principal Jwala Prasad and the institute's heads of departments. Subsequently, he honored meritorious and high-performing students from various departments by presenting them with certificates and mementos.

Citing the life of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Dr. Chauhan noted that despite limited resources, Dr. Kalam realized his dreams and became a source of inspiration for the youth across the nation. He urged students to draw inspiration from Dr. Kalam’s life—specifically his hard work, honesty, patriotism, and vision to dream big—and to utilize their knowledge and skills for the development of society and the country.

Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan recounted how, at the time of the country's partition, millions of people migrated to India from present-day Pakistan, leaving behind their homes and properties. During those trying times, thousands of displaced families in Nilokheri—driven by hard work, dedication, and self-confidence—built their own homes, established small-scale industries, created new employment opportunities, and transformed Nilokheri into an ideal model of self-reliance. He remarked that this land stands as a witness to an inspiring saga of struggle, hard work, and reconstruction.

Chief Guest Dr. Chauhan observed that today's young generation is gradually becoming unaware of their city's glorious history and rich heritage. The Nilokheri Festival is being organized with the aim of acquainting the new generation with the town's founding, its history of struggle, its culture, and its journey of development. He told the talented young engineers that the town of Nilokheri itself is the realization of the vision and planning of an engineer named S.K. Dey—a subject well worth studying.

Principal Jwala Prasad stated that the objective of the annual prize distribution ceremony is not merely to honor students, but to further strengthen the spirit of excellence within them. He noted that, alongside quality technical education, the institute places special emphasis on moral values, discipline, and personality development.

Also present on the occasion were Ajit Singh, Bijendra Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Pawan Verma, Roshni, Kavita Rathi, Kamaljit Motia, and Dr. Sunil Dahiya, along with all heads of departments, faculty members, staff, and students.
