Students showcased their styling and makeup skills on the final day of Workshop at UIFT

University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development, Panjab University organised a three days National Skill Development Workshop on Fashion Styling and Makeup from 13 -15 September 2023 under the aegis of RUSA. This workshop attracted 61 participants from different departments of the University and Colleges.

Students showcased their styling and makeup skills on the final day of Workshop at UIFT

Chandigarh, September 16, 2023: University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development, Panjab University organised a three days National Skill Development Workshop on Fashion Styling and Makeup from 13 -15 September 2023 under the aegis of RUSA. This workshop attracted 61 participants from different departments of the University and Colleges.
 
Monika Dhiman, one of the resource person, a budding Image Consultant and Soft Skills Trainer, shared her thoughts and perspective via an interactive session where  She discussed the essentials of being successful in one's pursuit. She emphasized that Appearance Management and Soft Skills are the key factors that determine the  result of a person's collective efforts. Many Activities during the session made it highly interactive and interesting session.
 
Gurleen, A fashion stylist and a makeup artist demonstrated various techniques of applying make- how to select brushes, prepare the face for make-up, application of eyeshadow etc, were demonstrated and then practiced by the participants. She showcased well-executed self-makeup routine which can highlighted one's best features while concealing imperfections, resulting in a more attractive and put-together appearance.
 
The third day of the workshop witnessed a series of interactive activities. Gurleen started the day on the note Makeup tips for an everyday look. She explained the concept of amplifying the looks by a natural make-up. This was followed by a session on hair care and hair styling by Mohini. She emphasised the aspects of the kinds of hair styles for different occasions and different attires.
 
A competition on Styling and Makeup was organised on the final day where participants of the workshop showcased the skills learnt during three days of experiential learning. The competition and the presentations were judged by Prof. Gurmeet Kaur, Department of Geology, Panjab University.
 
The valedictory session was presided over by Prof. Rumina Sethi, Dean University Instructions, Panjab University, as the Chief Guest for the evening. Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson and Workshop Co-ordinator, presented a report on the sessions conducted by different artists and resource persons and highlighted the creative skills of stylists, draping techniques, skin care, make-up and hairstyling. The sessions helped the students recognize their uniqueness and how it has to be exploited in the modern-day world of impressive looks.
 
Prof. Rumina Sethi expressed her delight on being able to witness such different creative, explorative efforts of the students. In her talk she highlighted the need to understand the politics behind everything that is marketed today so that we question the origin of trends and are a more conscious consumer of the products and identities. She provided a broad vision of fashion being a representative art and a voice of freedom for many. She congratulated the winners of the competition on Styling and Makeup. The first prize was bagged by Kashish from UIFT. The second was won by two groups, Nupur, Yogita, and Prerna and Aman from UIFT. Preetjot of UIET bagged the third prize by adorning a minimalistic look. Participants while sharing their feedback and experience about the workshop mentioned this to be an excellent workshop where the skills learnt will  help them in many ways not only for their jobs but also enhancing their day to day lifestyle.
