State government puts seven doctors under suspension for private practice

Shimla, June 4, 2017: The State Government has put seven doctors working in various hospitals of the State under suspension. These doctors are Dr. Prashant Rana, Medical Officer, RH Chamba, Dr. Dinesh Thakur, Medical officer, RH Bilaspur, Dr. Ashwani Sammi , Medical Officer RH Chamba, Dr.Pankaj Sharma, Medical Officer, CHC Nalagarh, District Solan, Dr.Arvind Sharma, Medical Officer, CH Kangra, Dr.Deepak Thakur, Medical Officer, Bilaspur and Dr.Pankaj Sharma, Medical Officer, RH Bilaspur.

Stating this here today, Shri Kaul Singh Thakur, Health and Family Welfare Minister said that these doctors had been willfully absenting from their duty in the hospitals and were also involved in private practice.

The Minister said that these doctors were not properly performing their duties and attending the patients. Besides, they were involved in private practice. He said an inquiry was conducted against these doctors and the State Government has taken serious note of facts that doctors had been absenting themselves from the hospitals. Thus, violation of services rules, hence put under suspension.

He said the headquarters of the doctors put under suspension had been fixed at Directorate of Health Services, Shimla and shall not leave the headquarter without permission of competent authority.

The Minister said few more doctors were also under scanner.

Shri Thakur asked the medical officers to compulsorily prescribe generic medicines so that objective of the government of easy accessibility of medical care to the poor people was fulfilled. He appealed to the medical fraternity to adopt this noble profession of service to the humanity as a mission as people have faith on doctors and they consider them next to God while in suffering and they should also respect and maintain this belief.
