Bathinda, October 20, 2023: The Central University of Punjab under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari organized a lecture on Amrit Kaal Vimarsh. The distinguished speaker of this lecture was Prof. Kuldip Chand Agnihotri, Former Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh, an eminent academician and a member of various academic bodies.

During the event, Prof. K.C. Agnihotri emphasized that the term “Amrit” has been utilized in our ancient scriptures and by tenth Sikh Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji in the medieval times to foster a fearless approach to fighting against oppression and serving mankind. The goal of ‘Amrit Kaal Vimarsh’ is to inspire youngsters to transform India into a developed nation where the benefits of development reach every corner and every citizen as the country celebrates its 100 years of independence in 2047.

Prof. Agnihotri discussed the history of Akhand Bharat, stating that the Sapta Sindhu region, which was a golden trade route in ancient times, has faced invasions from Arabs, Turks, and Mughals. However, it was British rule that weakened us financially and detached us from our own Indian Knowledge System by imposing the Macaulay Education System in 1835, which forced everyone to learn in English. He argued that the British not only attempted to divide Akhand Bharat but also dominated our mindset, as we continue to prefer Western thoughts and philosophy even after gaining independence.

Prof. Agnihotri referred to Babasaheb Ambedkar's famous books "Who Were Shudras" and "Castes in India" to argue that castes and gotras in our society should not be seen as a dividing line between people. A deeper understanding of the same would help us realize that there are same gotras in different castes, indicating unity. He urged everyone to take an oath to reunite our society and nation by 2047.

In his presidential address, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, emphasized that Bharatiya Philosophy and Wisdom have always guided us to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. He encouraged youngsters to become enlightened by our Ancient Knowledge System and adopt the Bharatiya mindset to find solutions to societal problems. This way, we can make Bharat AtmaNirbhar by 2047.

At the outset, Dr. Vipan Pal Singh, Programme Convener, welcomed the participants and introduced the programme theme. Towards the end, Dr. Sanjeev Mander proposed a formal vote of thanks.
