Students Spread Strong Anti-Drug Awareness Message on International Day Against Drug Abuse

The Department of Statistics organised an event on “Celebration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on the ill effects of drugs. Through this event, the students effectively conveyed a powerful anti-drug message by highlighting various day-to-day themes like peer pressure, academic decline, deteriorating health, and the importance of seeking help and support from family and friends.

Students Spread Strong Anti-Drug Awareness Message on International Day Against Drug Abuse

Chandigarh, June 29, 2026: The Department of Statistics organised an event on “Celebration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on the ill effects of drugs. Through this event, the students effectively conveyed a powerful anti-drug message by highlighting various day-to-day themes like peer pressure, academic decline, deteriorating health, and the importance of seeking help and support from family and friends.
Prof. Narinder Kumar, Chairperson, in his message said that drug use has severe negative effects on students, impacting their physical and mental health, academic performance, and social relationships. These consequences can be short-term or long-term.
Harminder Singh Deosi, Coordinator of the event, in his message discussed the effects of drugs and smoking on human health and the environment. Further, Deosi also discussed the “Save Fuel Campaign” in the Panjab University campus for energy conservation in the Panjab University campus through the adoption of the no-vehicle policy every Wednesday and the use of electric vehicles to save fuel.
Sumit Kumar, the student event coordinator, through a presentation gave awareness about “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan: A National Movement Towards a Drug-Free India”. He also discussed the key components and strategies of this Abhiyaan. A pledge was also administered on “No Drugs”.
Faculty, staff and research scholars participated in the event. The conclusion of the event was: “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”.
