Ferozepur, July 12, 2026: A plantation drive dedicated to environmental conservation was organised at Government Senior Secondary School, Sande Hasham, under the Student Police Cadet (SPC) Scheme, under the leadership of SP Headquarters and Olympian Sardar Dharamvir Singh. The initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness, increasing green cover and encouraging students to take responsibility for protecting nature.
On the occasion, Sanjh Kendra In-charge ASI Varinder Kumar and his team, in collaboration with Shri Sathya Sai Seva Samiti, Ferozepur, planted a variety of shade-giving, fruit-bearing and ornamental saplings within the school campus. The drive was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to reduce pollution and foster environmental stewardship among the younger generation.
Addressing the gathering, SP Headquarters Dharamvir Singh said that trees are an invaluable support system for human life and that plantation has become a necessity in the face of rising pollution and climate change. He urged every individual to plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care and maintenance, ensuring a cleaner, greener and healthier environment for future generations.
SPC In-charge Akash Kumar (DM Sports) also interacted with the students and highlighted the importance of environmental protection. He said that if every student plants and nurtures a sapling, it can significantly contribute to expanding green cover and creating a healthier ecosystem.
Students enthusiastically participated in the plantation campaign and pledged to care for the saplings they planted. Teachers, staff members, social workers and other dignitaries were also present during the programme.
The event concluded with a collective appeal to the public to plant more trees and actively contribute towards environmental conservation. The plantation drive conveyed a strong message about protecting natural resources, enhancing greenery and fulfilling society’s shared responsibility towards the environment.
