Chandigarh, November 3, 2025: Skill Enhancement Course on "Machine Learning Using Python" concluded at The Department of Statistics, Panjab University.

The five day course was aimed to equip the students with Machine Learning (ML) that enables computers to learn from data and improve their performance without being explicitly programmed. It involved Pattern recognition, Predictive modeling and Decision-making based on data as Python is the most popular language for ML due to its simplicity, readability, and rich ecosystem of libraries.

Resource Persons from Department of Statistics namely Chairperson Prof. Narinder Kumar, Dr. Anju Goyal and Harminder Singh Deosi and from Department of Computer Science and Application, Prof. Anu Gupta, Dr. Anuj Sharma, Dr. Jasleen Kaur Bains, Dr. Rohini Sharma, Dr. Supreet Thapar and Dr. Anuj Kumar delivered the lectures covering various concepts of Machine Learning including conducting of practical assignments for the students.

Resource Person covered important topics like  Introduction of Python and ML, Decoding Data: The power of classification algorithms in ML, Semantic analysis preprocessing text and implementation, Classification using KNN with Python based case studies, Unsupervised leering techniques, Clustering Techniques in ML using Python, Parametric Inference; and random forest, Data analysis and Anomaly detection using Python.

In concluding session of the course, Prof. Neeraj Misra, Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh delivered special lecture on the topic "Importance of Statistical Thinking in the Era of ML and ChatGPT" which was very well received by the Participants.
