Session on national science day celebrations

Chandigarh: A session on the “National Science Day celebrations” under the “Mission Innovate Punjab” was held on the second day of Prof. R.C.Paul National Symposium (RCPNS) 2020, with the theme “Women in Science”, at the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh, here today. This year the symposium was focussed on emerging chemical innovations for Swachh, Swasth and Sarvatra Bharat. The symposium provided a unique platform for sharing new ideas in Chemistry that can improve the life of a common person. 
The keynote address of the symposium was delivered by Dr. Sanjay Misha from KIRAN Division of the Department of Science and Technology. Dr. Misha highlighted the gender inclusion in Science and Technology. 
During the session, eminent women scientists, Dr. Chetna Dhand from CSIR, AMPRI,  Bhopal and Dr. Suman Lata, DCRUST, Muruthal presented their research work. In the concluding session, Prof. Inder Pal Singh from NIPER, Mohali and Dr. Venus Singh Mithu from GNDU, Amritsar presented their innovations in the field of Chemistry. 
The students and research scholars were awarded with best model, oral and poster presentations in the symposium. Miss Rajdeep Kaur, from Shri Guru Granth Sahib University, Fatehgarh Sahib won the award for best oral presentation while a scientific model made by Yamini Thakur, PU, was adjudged the best. Besides these, the award for best poster presentations were given to Hemant Singh, PU, Mayank Khera, PU, Priya, PU, Deepak Rohilla, PU, Puneet Kaur, PAU, Ludhiana, and Taranpreet Kaur, PU.
In the valedictory session, Prof. K.N. Singh, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Varinder Kaur, Convener of RCPNS 2020, congratulated all the delegates for their enthusiastic participation and making this symposium a grand success.
