Session on NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan
The Department of Library and Information Science, Arts Block-IV, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a session on NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan in Lecture Hall-I. The session was held under the theme “Burn the Drugs, Not Your Future.”
Chandigarh, October 30, 2025: The Department of Library and Information Science, Arts Block-IV, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a session on NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan in Lecture Hall-I. The session was held under the theme “Burn the Drugs, Not Your Future.”
Neharika, Bachelors student of the Department formally introduced the event. Prof. Rupak Chakravarty, Chairperson, shared valuable insights into the causes, consequences, and preventive measures related to substance abuse. His talk emphasised the importance of awareness, self-control, and community support in combating the growing menace of drugs. He also highlighted the psychological, social, and physical consequences of substance addiction and elaborated on preventive strategies that students and society can adopt to curb this menace. He also administered an oath against drug abuse, which was taken collectively by all students and faculty members.
A documentary on NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyaan by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowernement, Governement of India was played for the awareness of the students. Participants gained a deeper understanding of how drug abuse not only affects individuals but also undermines families, communities, and society at large. The session concluded with a collective commitment to stand against drug abuse and to promote a drug-free campus and society.
At the end, Shubham Mishra, Research Scholar of the Department gave the vote of thanks to the students and faculty members of the department for active participation.
