Seminar on G20 and Y20 India Initiatives to commemorate National Youth Day at GHSC-10

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand and celebrate National Youth Day, Government Home Science College in collaboration with NGO Yuvsatta organised a one day seminar on the theme ' G20 success with active and vibrant engagement of youth, girls and women '.

Chandigarh, January `1, 2023: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand and celebrate National Youth Day, Government Home Science College in collaboration with NGO Yuvsatta organised a one day seminar on the theme ' G20 success with active and vibrant engagement of youth, girls and women '. 


The seminar commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by the inaugural address delivered by Prof. Sudha Katyal, Principal, GHSC-10. She emphasized on the role of G20 in building economy of a country as well as Indias presidency this year for working towards the cause of women through the initiative of W20. She highlighted the role and importance of youth and need for focussing on women led development as envisioned by Prime Minister. 


The Chief Guest of the seminar Sarabjit Kaur, Mayor, MC, Chandigarh highlighted the importance of girls to be empowered and need to change their mindset and focus on self-growth. 


Guest of Honor Surender Kumar, Additional District and Sessions Judge cum Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh delivered the concluding remarks highlighting the history and role of women and empowering them with good education. He spoke about the G20 summit to be held in India and the focus on W20 to achieve the objective of gender equality and equity. 


The seminar also included a session by Dr. Namrata Sethi on the role of G 20 and W 20. Vaani a student of BSc second year spoke about the teachings and philosophy of Swami Vivekanand. 


To further empower, inspire and motivate the young girls present at the seminar, a pink turban campaign was launched where in they were all adorned with pink turbans as a symbol of respect.

It was a proud moment as the college was awarded a certificate of recognition and excellence from Mayor Chandigarh as well as State Legal Services Authority for its contribution in promoting sustainability and women empowerment.
